?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government scheme that is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities. It does this by helping to identify the supports that would be of assistance. Designed to engage both permanent and significant disabilities, the scheme is focused around daily activities and supporting these.

With a foundation of independence and autonomy, it guarantees that those who participate in the program have assistance where they choose.

Whether you require assistance with transport, education, employment, health and wellbeing or community participation, the NDIS provides you with the choice and control that you deserve. This scheme has transformed the way that people with disabilities are able to live within their community. With a base in personal preferences and goal achieving, it is a remarkable scheme to be involved in.

The NDIS considers a variety of factors when determining your eligibility. These come down to your disability or impairments, how permanent your impairment may be, your age and whether you may instead benefit from another avenue such as early intervention.

To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be between 7-65 years of age
  2. Be a permanent resident of Australia
  3. Have an impairment or condition that is likely to be permanent (lifelong) and that hinders you from conducting daily tasks independently
